Silent Auction Ends at Happy Tails
This is a contest of Stamina and strength. A Technique first used in mining, which one miner will use steel lengths to dill holes in the Silver Plume granite slab to sent the dynamite. The contestant has to use his own steel and hammer. The Contestant goes for 5 minutes with several steel changes along the way. The deepest hole in 5 minutes wins.
A test to see who can drill two 3 foot holes into the rock the fastest. The drill has to chuck the steel into the drill, pick in up and carry in to the rock. The driller has on high hole and one low hole about 2 feet apart. The driller has to drill both holes and when the steel puller touches the rock he has to pull out and carry the drill back across the 15th link. The then has to unchuck the steel and set the drill down for a finish time.
This contest is like timbering the mines. The men drive 260 penny spikes up into an overhead timber. Then they drive 360 penny spikes down a timber. The Women get to drive 260 Penny spikes down, the fastest time wins. One miner will drive two spikes up and three spikes down.
Hand:The object of the contest is the see which miner can hand shovel sand or ore, form and "ore" pile into a 1 ton ore card and push the cart to the end of the tracks the fastest.
2B Mucking: This contest is the see who can fill a rocker hox ore car the fastest using an old over shot mucker the fastest.
This is a women's event that takes an antique wheelbarrow thru an obstacle course. The wheelbarrow has several metal balls in it. The contestants have to go thru the course without losing any balls. There are penalties for going out if the course and for losing any balls.
